Bike Maths Problem Solving W2

Welcome Back to my blog!
Last week for maths we were doing problem solving, based on a bike.
Here is the question:

We worked out that each time you turn the crank the pedal gear will rotate 1 time and the sprocket will rotate 3 times. So if you turned the crank 9 times then the wheel would move 27 times beacuse 9x3=27.

Thanks for reading
comment question: Ho would you havde worked out the first question?

Hansel and Gretel Writing

Welcome back!
This week for writing we read the book hansel and gretel. After reading it we were tasked with writing sentences to describe the forest. Here are mine:

The great, tall trees swayed in the wind, their trunks were like old bones. They looked like they could snap at any second.

Their rotten leaves lined the path, making a soft place to sit and rest. It was at this time the two siblings decided to have a nap because the many hours of walking had tired them out.

“Chirp chirp chirp” The sounds of the birds chirping woke the pair up. The sunrise was shining through the trees, red and gold colours beamed everywhere. The forest’s residents scuttered around the ground looking for an early morning snack.

Comment question: Have you ever read Hansel And Gretel?

HawaIi Writing

Welcome back to my blog! Here is some writing I have been working on recently:

Kaylee and her friends jumped off the boat and headed for the shore. The remote beach was only accessible by boat. Kaylee’s dad grabbed the picnic blanket and some rugs and carried them over his head, struggling not to get them wet. The beach was located on an island off the coast of hawaii. Hawaii was a popular tourist hotspot. The island was not well known and was like an expensive gem, everyone wanted it but not everyone could get it. Little did Kaylee and her dad know, only ⅗ friends that she had bought with her knew how to swim. The water was like glass. Perfectly clear and still except for the odd ripple coming from the speedboats that rested by the shore. It was like a whole other world under the blue liquid. Fish swam in schools and coral blossomed, the home of many creatures. Of course there were dangers about the remote island. Stinging jellyfish circled the beach. But that never stopped anyone. People traveled for miles to come to this beach. The most feared of all creatures was the great white shark. It was huge. It’s teeth shaped like triangles, perfect for ripping out the flesh of animals smaller than him. It was rare but people had spotted it swimming around the shallow waters.

Thanks for reading! Comment question: Have you ever been to Hawaii?

descriptive writing dlo

Welcome back! These are a couple of paragraphs I wrote about the photo down below. I had to describe the forest and then I did one about what happened in the forest. Thanks for reading
The Woods
The paths were lined with weeping trees groaning in the wind. The old leaves
created a soft surface for the animals to rest on. The sun's golden rays filled the
area with light, exposing the birds that nestled within. An orange tent huddled
behind the curvy trees, a black bug net covered the entrance of the tent protecting
the creatures that played inside. The patches of dying grass lined the ground,
mushrooms cuddled together.

That evening as the sun was setting and the forest was coming alive something
emerged from the tent, quickly gathering items from the base of the tall trees. Out
of nowhere an angry red glow appread by the tent. It fought with the wind trying to
stay alive. Cold rocks paved the area it was permitted to be in. Sticks providing
food for the red glow. As the hours passed the glow shrank. The bitter night turned
into a bitter day. The forest was ready to do it all over again.

Comment question: Have you ever been camping?

Welcome back! heres a paragraph of my report I wrote about Ernest Rutherford. Thanks for reading.
Introduction

"Never say, "I tried it once and it did not work."" ~ Ernest Rutherford. Ernest Rutherford is undoubtedly one of the most famous New Zealanders. He is the father of nuclear physics and has developed multiple different theories and methods many of which are still used today. To his family he went by the name Ern, but to the rest of the world he's known as Sir Ernest Rutherford. He was knighted in 1914 by the Queen.  If you have a look at a $100 note you might see Ernest Rutherford’s face on there, with a nobel prize around his neck.

Anzac Day reading - w3

Hey!
As you probably know the other day it was Anzac Day in Australia and New Zealand. A day where we remember those who died and those who fought or us in the war to give us the freedom we have today.  This week our reading task was to read a story/article and make something that showcased the most important events and how they made you feel and think. Here is mine:
Comment Question: How do you celebrate Anzac Day?

Maths - online Learning w2

Welcome Back!
Last week for math I learnt about data and how to show this data in different ways. I collected my data and then made a chart using google sheets. After doing that we found different things in our data and made sentences about them. We also put them on a google drawing. Here is mine:

Comment question: What is a way you can collect data?

Welcome Back!
Last week I wrote a short story and then found places where I had completed goals. This was very fun and something different to what I normally do. Here is the story starter I used:
She turned in the saddle and looked behind her. Emma could see the others gaining on her.
Digging in her heels, she whispered some words of encouragement in the horse's ears as it burst into full speed. They were making good time, but there was so far still to go.
