Anzac Day reading - w3

Hey!
As you probably know the other day it was Anzac Day in Australia and New Zealand. A day where we remember those who died and those who fought or us in the war to give us the freedom we have today.  This week our reading task was to read a story/article and make something that showcased the most important events and how they made you feel and think. Here is mine:
Comment Question: How do you celebrate Anzac Day?

Maths - online Learning w2

Welcome Back!
Last week for math I learnt about data and how to show this data in different ways. I collected my data and then made a chart using google sheets. After doing that we found different things in our data and made sentences about them. We also put them on a google drawing. Here is mine:

Comment question: What is a way you can collect data?

Writing - online learning W2

Welcome Back!
Last week I wrote a short story and then found places where I had completed goals. This was very fun and something different to what I normally do. Here is the story starter I used:
She turned in the saddle and looked behind her. Emma could see the others gaining on her.
Digging in her heels, she whispered some words of encouragement in the horse's ears as it burst into full speed. They were making good time, but there was so far still to go.

Fake News

This week for reading we were focusing on fake news. We had to learn about how you can tell if it is fake or not and to use multiple sites and resources to get credible information. The first task we had to complete was a bbc task were you were a journalist. I thought this was cool. Then for the create we had to make an info graphic about what we had learnt. Here is mine:

Thanks for reading

Online learning - Reading

Hey everyone!
I Hope your all keeping safe and entertained during this time. Today was the first day of online learning for New Zealand and the first day of term 2.  Today we had a google meet with around 80 people on it! But after that we got introduced to our reading task for the next couple of days. Here it is:
For reading this week I read:
Text 1:

Text 2:

Aim to complete as many of these 3 boxes as you can, the minimum we expect is 1 completed :)
What is written below is the minimum please feel free to write more.

My thinking:
Make connections between and across at least two texts and general knowledge to expand meaning and pose questions

The new learnings I now have are:
That the English governs when translating the treaty they didn't do it properly so the Maori people and the English people were singing for two different things . When the English people promised stuff it didn’t always happen the way they said it would.

2 Questions I have are:
How did the man and his son who were translating the treaty know any Maori at all since they were from England?
Why were they scared about France taking over their land when it was already being protected and ruled by the English?

Use prior knowledge to connect to at least two texts
The prior knowledge I had for Text 1 was:
William hobson signed the treaty on behalf of the queen at the time. Queen Victoria
A lot of the land that the Maori chiefs had been promised was taken away from them or they didn't get it how they were promised it

The prior knowledge I had for Text 2 was:
Captain cook was the first English person to arrive in new Zealand and after his arrival he sparked the arrival of many other English citizens and people including william hobson
A company in london planned to buy many different places in new Zealand and sell it to the travellers and then people who wanted to start new lives there

Make connections between at least two texts and own life experiences

2 things that I could relate to from my own life experience in Text 1 was:
Sometimes things don’t happen the way you thought they would or their is underlying statements or rules about the thing that could completely change the whole experience
Things get taken from you without your consent all of the time whether you like it or  not

2 things that I could relate to from my own life experience in Text 2 was:
Not everyone has a fair say in things or a say at all because they aren’t the best person to ask about it
Having rules or an agreement can help about esplaicy when you are doing things like playing a game because everyone's prior knowledge about it could be different and they could all have different understandings of the game.
