The Energetic Epro8 Competition

Welcome Back everyone!!!
Earlier this year a few of my friends and I made it into the Epro8 team for our school. EPro8 is an engineering competition.  Here is a piece of writing about this competition,

A few weeks ago I went to the Epro8 heats. The rest of my team was Sienna, Petra and Neila. We were really nervous and really excited. The challenges were hard. My favourite was the dog box. We had to build a structure above the ground. The judge said that they were going to give out points for tidy areas. Our area wasn’t that tidy. We had to clean up really fast! At the end of the heats we had to get into the top 4 to get to the semi finals. We came third. We all got cool certificates. Next up was the semi- finals. We were quite scared about that. We got to the competition and were really excited. The theme was rock band. My favourite challenge was to make a stage. There was a light mounted on either end and they had to flash like a disco! We had to get into the top three this time. We got third again. That meant that we were off to the finals! We were all super nervous! The theme for this challenge was sports. Some of the challenges was to make a rowing machine and a limbo bar! We had to think really hard about making the limbo bar buzz! In the end we came eighth! We were all really proud of our efforts and had lots of fun.

My Marvelous Maths Evidence

This is my math evidence for my report. The strategy I have used in my poster is called Doubling and Halving. You can use this strategy when you are doing multiplication problems. I think that my poster could be useful when you are teaching people this strategy. I enjoyed making this and hope you like it.

My Magnificent Volcano

My Magnificent Volcano

The past few days my  Neila and I have been working on a volcano. This term we have been focusing on Maori myths and legends. In our group session we were reading the story, Battle of The Mountains. This was what we chose to do for our reading follow up. Here is how we made it;

The first day we made a volcano shape out of tinfoil and tape. We covered a small bottle in tinfoil and stuck some different sized tinfoil balls to it. Then we covered it in lots more tinfoil.  This took us quite a along time. The shape was inspired by Tongariro one of the main characters in The Battle Of The Mountains. The next day we mixed lots of different colours of paint. We finally got the perfect reddy brown colour. On the last day we made the volcano erupt. This was my favorite part.  I really enjoyed making a volcano and hope that one day I can do it again.

Meerkat

Meerkat Blog Post
I yawned as I stretched my arm up. I had a late night last night. We were running from the hideous
vultures. It was time to get up.
 “Get up! Get up! ”
I growled to my brothers and sisters. Finally one by one they stumbled out of bed.
I popped up out of one of the entrances to our den. My best friend Carrot appeared beside me.
I gazed up at the big willow tree that shielded our den from strong winds.
On one brunch hung a sweet pink fruit. My eyes were stuck on it.
“Brussel what are you looking at?” Carrot asked me
Without taking my eyes off the strange new fruit, I answered:
Up there” I pointed to the pink sphere
Brussel gasped! I scampered back down the hole and called to my brothers and sisters,
“Come, come to witness the scared Bula Bula Fruit!” I cried in a war like way.
The Meerkats lived for the Bula Bula Fruit!
We clambered into a round circle and started our sacred tradition.
“O fualaau e lua. O fualaau paia e lua. O fua tatou te ola ai. O fualaau paia e lua. The bula bula fruit.
The sacred bula bula fruit. The fruit we live for. The sacred bula bula fruit.” We all sang with everything
we had!
“GAW GAW GAW” We heard the horrifying noise of the Vulture, the one thing that we fared!

Waterpolo

Every Friday I play water-polo. Water-Polo is a sport played in a pool. There is two goals and one ball. It is played in two teams. Each team has one goalie. The aim of the game is to get the ball to the other side of the pool and get as many goals as you can. Unless you are a goalie you have to play with one hand (Passing, Throwing, etc). You can swim with the ball using two hands. Water-polo is a good sport to play if you want to get fit. It is great fun to play with your friends and family. I like playing water-polo because it is a very exiting game. If you have the chance I think you should try it out!
