Welcome,
Today i will be sharing my learning on communication. We have been working on our communication with partners and in our PBL group. I think that personally I have been going well with my communication but there is always room for improvement. As a group I think we have been doing well but we just need to talk about decisions before we make them. Collaboration and communication is important to work as a group.

Fair Collaboration Relfection
Welcome back to my blog,
Today I will be reflecting on our PBL (Project Based Learning) groups work so far based on some different goals. I think that since the start of the term we as a group have grown our collaboration skills and are starting to work together really well as a group. For me personally I think one goal that I need to work on is: Work highly effectively and interdependently, identifying and using each other's strengths and skills
I think that I need to work on this because at the moment there is mainly only two people in our group doing all the work and I think that even though we have grown as a group we still need to work on this. One goal I think we have worked on well is have highly developed social and emotional skills and an ability to communicate across a range of different people
Thanks For reading this post

PBL This Term - Driving Question
Welcome back to my Blog!
I hope you all had a good school holidays. Today I am going to be sharing this terms PBL (Project Based Learning). This Term the PBL driving question is....... What does the future ask of us? That got us thinking. What are the biggest problems in the world and will they be present in the future? We got into groups of 4 and deiced on the 5 biggest problem in the world today. Some of the most popular ones were things like climate change, war, inequality and some others. We then brainstormed some other problems in our world. We then thought about what the future might look like. Robots was something we thought would be very present in 20 years. We went on a site and put in some jobs to see if they would be taken by robots in 20 years. We thought about things robots have like us and things we have that they don't. I'm really excited to see what this term bring but for now bye!
Comment question: Do you think that robots will take your job?

The way the day worked was there was a programme and it had the times you were going at. I went at 10.10 am. My group was the first out of the talks and poetry slams/poems! I was nervous and excited.

“Hating people because of their colour is wrong. It doesn’t matter what colour does the hating. Its just wrong” - Muhammad Ali.
Hello. Today I am going to be sharing my speech on racism and how we can stop it. Racism happens in lots of places and it happens more than you would think. A lot of people think that racism is a dying thing but to many people it is something they experience everyday. I think that it should be our mission to put a stop to racism.
Thanks for reading and I will update you with more about my speech later!

Our PBL For This Term!
Welcome back to my blog!
This week the teachers in our hub have launched our PBL. The question for our PBL this term is;
How can we speak up against discrimination?
During the launch our teachers have taught us about different types of discrimination that people in our world experience on a daily basis. Some of these include, Sexism, Ageism and Racism. The teachers made small scenarios that would make us learn about this. One scenario that they did was making all the boys sit on chairs and all the girls sit on the floor. When they did this I felt annoyed because they got to sit on a chair which in our hub is normally a privilege.
When the teachers introduced this terms project they also told us about how we would present it. We are going to live stream on multiple platforms and share our projects. Some of the project ideas were things like a speech, ted talk and a podcast. They also introduced some sub questions. Some of these are:
What are human rights?
What are the different types of discrimination?
Comment Question: Have you ever felt discriminated against? If so tell your story.

PBL Teaser!
Welcome back to my blog!
This week I am going to be talking about our PBL for the term. This term our big question is...... "What is greatness?". We went to lots of different workshops about great people. We had to write a biography about a great person as well. You can go and find mine on my blog if you want! Then we started learning about the digi awards. The digi awards are a competition that goes on every year. You make a digital piece of work that answers or shows the main idea. Then they have awesome prizes for the winners! We are making our PBL and having our own digi awards then we are going to submit them into the competition. I am in a group of three with Ella and Ruby. Here is a picture of our website that we are making!

Brilliant Biography
Welcome back to my blog!! This term we have been working on a biography. We had to chose a person that we think was great. We then learnt all about biography and how to write them. I chose J.K Rowling for mine. Here's mine;
J.K Rowling
J.K Rowling. J.k Rowling also known as ( Joanne Rowling) was the writer of many great books. Her
most famous series of all is Harry Potter. She also writes lots of books under the name of Robert
Galbraith. Her parents names are Peter James Rowling and Anne Rowling. She has one sister named
Dianne. J.K rowling is great in many ways.
She was born on the 31st of July 1965, In England. Joanne attend St Michael's Primary School, and
Wyedean School and College. She was the head girl at her school and received high marks in English.
Her former teacher, Steve Eddy remembers her as being smart but not one of the top students. She has
written some of the greatest book series, she has also donated so much to charities. She is a great role
model to everyone. She used to be a billionaire before donating nearly half of her money to charities.
Here are some of them:
Book Aid International
Catie Hoch Foundation
Children with AIDS
Dyslexia Action
Gingerbread
Haven Foundation
Heifer International
Lumos
Make A Child Smile Appeal
Multiple Sclerosis Society
PEN
Raisa Gorbachev Foundation
Women's Fund for Scotland
XP Support Group

One of the first big things that happened in J.K Rowling’s life was in 1990. She had just moved from
London and was looking for a flat in Manchester when she came up with the idea of Harry Potter.
She was on a delayed train headed to Kings Cross Station, (You may recognise it) by herself when the i
dea of a boy attending wizard school came to her. Also in the same year J.K’s mother sadly passed
away from Multiple Sclerosis. It took J.K 6 years to finish the first book. Also in this year she started
planning all the other books in the series. A fun fact is J.K wrote most of the book on scrap paper.
In 1995 Jo finally found a publishing company that wanted to publish her books
. In 1997 the first harry potter book was published. When it was first published they only made
1000 copies. 500 of which were sent to libraries. A year later it won multiple awards. Then Harry Potter
had been bought for movie rights. After that the Queen made Joanne a Officer of the order of Britain.
A year later Jo published to more very popular books that tie in with the Harry Potter series.
Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them and Quidditch through the ages.
After this she released 2 more books. One of which becomes the fastest selling book of all times.
This book was Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows.
After all of the harry potter books had been released Jo sold so many copies that she decided to write
under a pen name. Her reasoning for this was she wanted people to buy the book because of how good
it was, not because she had written it. Even after donating so much money to charity Jo still has an
estimated 700 million pounds. She has a few houses, a few cars and 3 kids to look after.
She has won about 100 awards. Almost half are for the Harry Potter series but many are for other books
she has written. Over all I think J.K is an amazing person. She is a great role model and teacher. She has
brought joy to so many people's lives and doesn't do it for money. At the moment J.K is working on more
books and relaxing.
Overall J.K has a very interesting life. Many people say that she went from rags to riches.
It took her along time to write the books but it was worth it. Here is a famous quote from J.K rowling;
“It is impossible to live without failing at something… unless you live so cautiously that you might as
well not have lived at all - in that case you lose by default. “

Perfect Placement!
One of the first things that we have been focusing on in the Kaupeka hub the year has been greatness and how we can be great. On of the tasks we had to do was to make a place mat. This place mat had five different sections on it. On the four main sections you had to chose 3 people off a list and 1 of your own. Then we had to write about why they were/are great. Here is my place mat:
I chose Coco Chanel as my own because I think she is very inspiring and a great role model to everyone.

School Trip To Margret Mahy Playgoround And Imagination Staion
On Monday the 21 of August Tumu Hub went to four different places for PBL. Imagination station, Biz Dojo, Core Education and the St Martins Community Center and Hill View School hall.
I went to Imagination station in town. There we split into groups of four or five and we all had a role to play in the group. I was the town banker who got all the bricks. Some of the other jobs were, Mayor, Environment officer and safety officer. All the jobs were important and had a purpose. After we got our job we had to go and get a base for our town. There was a colour chart were each colour block represented a different building like red was houses. There was 5 other blocks that we could chose what they meant. So after we had chosen what they meant we had to start building. Halfway through we had ran out of blocks so we couldn't finish, but it was really fun.
Something I learnt form building the town was that everything that goes into a building is important for the finished product.
After we had finished at the imagination station we walked down the road to meet the rest of the Tumu hub team at the Margaret Mahy playground. We played and ate lunch there before getting into our PBL groups for a scavenger hunt. Margret Mahy is so cool and we were really lucky to be able to go there.
Have you ever been to Margaret Mahy Playground?
