Novel Study

 Welcome back to my blog!

This week I am sharing another part of my novel study, here it is:

This is a google drawing I made that shows the main idea of the book "Artemis Fowl". The first drawing is of a fairy because he is thinking about the fairy and gaining knowledge about them. The next drawing is a fairy in a cage. This represents Artemis capturing the fairy and holding her ransom. The next and last drawing shows fairy gold. This represents what Artemis will get when he holds the fairy for ransom.

Comment Question: Do you find it hard to draw on google drawings?

Growth Mindset

 Welcome back to my blog!

Today's blog will be about a growth mindset. What is a growth mindset? A growth mindset is when you are positive and can learn from your mistakes. You take other peoples feedback and always try to do better.

The opposite of a growth mindset is a fixed mindset. This means that you are negative and don't think you can do better. You don't try very hard and don't take others feedback.

Comment question? What mindset do yoy have?

Writing create w5

Here is a paragraph I worte:

At least 795 million people go without food every day. By 2030 that number is expected to increase by 2 billion.  I could go on. How has this problem gotten this far without being fixed? I don't know, but what I do know is that this is a problem we CAN fix and we need to do it now. In 2015 the world gained 17 goals. Number 2 is zero hunger. By 2030 we need to reduce or wipe out world hunger or the problem will be a lot harder to reverse. The only way we can do this is by working together. We need to become a team of 7 billion.

Collaboration

 Welcome back!

Today blog im going to be talking about collaboration.

Why is collaboration important?

it is important because to work well as group and complete a product to a high standard you need to be able to collaborate with others and have good communication skills. To do this you need to be a good listener, let other people talk, think about other peoples ideas, do whats best for the group etc.

Mental Health Speech Intro

 Welcome back!

This term we are writing speeches, I have chosen to write my speech on mental health, because i think it is a big problem in our world today. Here is a paragraph I have wroten:

1 in 6 New Zealanders are diagnosed with a mental disorder at some point in their life. This means that around 833333 people struggle with mental illness. Having a mental illness is draining. Everyday is a battle. You lose friends and the things you used to enjoy aren't fun anymore, but still mental health isn't treated the same as physical health. Mental health is just as important as physical health. Why? Because if you aren't happy living your day to day life or you don't see the point in getting up in the morning then there is a problem. We need to fix it. New Zealand has the highest teen suicide rate in the world. In 2016 data shows that 554 people committed suicide. 554 people took their own lives because they didn't think there was a way out. In the whole world around every 40 second someone takes their own life. This needs to be talked about more.

Comment question: Please comment some feedback or what you think I should include In my speech

Here is the question:

Descriptive Hansel And Gretel Writing

Welcome back to my blog!
Today I will be sharing some of the sentences I wrote about Hansel And Gretel. Here they are:

The smell of the cadys drew me into the house, all of a sudden the lucios gingerbread door swung open missing gretel by inches. An old lady, who was hunched over like a walking stick wobbled out the door. She smelt florally but her clothes smelt musty and old, like they had been sitting in the wardrobe for months.

The sweet scents drew me into the house, just as I had gotten close to the door, out of nowhere a wrinkly old lady appeared. She smelt floraly and like an old perfume. I looked down at her long feet, her shoes were pointy but I could see the shape of fat toes bursting out the sides.

As we came closer to the house made out of sweets, a musty smell wafted under our noses. BOOM. The gingerbread door that was in the front of the cottage had been swung open and slammed shut. COming towards us was an old lady. Her back was hunched over and her face was wrinkly. We could hear her heaving as she walked over to us.

“Hello children” The old lady snarled. A forced smile plastered her wrinkly, old face.”Would you like to come inside?” She waved her hand invitingly pointing towards the direction of the cottage.

“How are you today?” A voice crackled from behind us. We turned around to see a hunched over old lady with frilly clothes.

“Hello Children” A small, short lady squealed from behind. SHe stumbled over to us holding a basket full of candies and chocolates. “Come inside dearies, I have so many treats for you” She started walking backwards, closer to the house.

Hansel and I had been walking all day. When we finally got to the gingerbread house we decided to sit down and have a rest, as we were sleeping an wrinkly hunched over lady appeared out of nowhere, Hansel woke up to hear breathing into his face and touching his cheeks.

Gretel and I found an old lady outside of the house who was wrinkly and hunched over. We found her gardening round the back. Even her garden had lollies in it.

We walked round and round the house, trying to see if there was anyone home. Just as we had given up an frail old lady jumped in front of us she was trying to convince us to get inside her house and after a long day of walking we both decided it was for the best to go in and have a rest.

Hansel and Gretel Writing

Welcome back!
This week for writing we read the book hansel and gretel. After reading it we were tasked with writing sentences to describe the forest. Here are mine:

The great, tall trees swayed in the wind, their trunks were like old bones. They looked like they could snap at any second.

Their rotten leaves lined the path, making a soft place to sit and rest. It was at this time the two siblings decided to have a nap because the many hours of walking had tired them out.

“Chirp chirp chirp” The sounds of the birds chirping woke the pair up. The sunrise was shining through the trees, red and gold colours beamed everywhere. The forest’s residents scuttered around the ground looking for an early morning snack.

Comment question: Have you ever read Hansel And Gretel?

HawaIi Writing

Welcome back to my blog! Here is some writing I have been working on recently:

Kaylee and her friends jumped off the boat and headed for the shore. The remote beach was only accessible by boat. Kaylee’s dad grabbed the picnic blanket and some rugs and carried them over his head, struggling not to get them wet. The beach was located on an island off the coast of hawaii. Hawaii was a popular tourist hotspot. The island was not well known and was like an expensive gem, everyone wanted it but not everyone could get it. Little did Kaylee and her dad know, only ⅗ friends that she had bought with her knew how to swim. The water was like glass. Perfectly clear and still except for the odd ripple coming from the speedboats that rested by the shore. It was like a whole other world under the blue liquid. Fish swam in schools and coral blossomed, the home of many creatures. Of course there were dangers about the remote island. Stinging jellyfish circled the beach. But that never stopped anyone. People traveled for miles to come to this beach. The most feared of all creatures was the great white shark. It was huge. It’s teeth shaped like triangles, perfect for ripping out the flesh of animals smaller than him. It was rare but people had spotted it swimming around the shallow waters.

Thanks for reading! Comment question: Have you ever been to Hawaii?

Reading

Welcome back! #
here is a reading task:

Book: Ella and Olivia, Puppy Trouble

It is a golden retriever puppy called bob. In the book they said he was a golden colour so I did that and that he had a big black nose, so I did that and he had a pink tongue so I did that and I made him smallish and in the book he wasn't very fluffy so I did smooth fur.

Maths- Shapes
